Detroit’s historic and storied Book Cadillac Hotel has stood vacant in Capitol Park since the mid 1980s.  Stripped of interior architectural features, the site suffered numerous fires, becoming a home to vagrants and the subject of demolition discussions. However, in the summer of 2006, the Ferchill Group, National City Bank, the City of Detroit, the State of Michigan and the federal government all came together pledging their time and money to save this piece of Detroit history.  Renovation of the 33-story historic structure created 455 hotel rooms, 67 market-rate condominiums, 119,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 31,000 square feet of state-of-the-art conference center space, a fitness facility, banquet events, 22 office spaces and 550 parking spaces. Among its many first–class amenities, the hotel offers a swimming pool, whirlpool and state–of–the–art fitness center, as well as on-site retail and fine dining. The new Book Cadillac facility created more than 450 full-time jobs and became a beacon for future city development renovation projects.  Our team developed concepts for acoustical review of existing and planned spaces, building code/fire protection, interior and exterior lighting and construction/detail quality assurance.
