Located in a cultural melting pot, Detroit’s new Southwest Public Safety Center is a reflection of the strong and vibrant communities that it serves.  Working together with the Detroit Building Authority, the project’s design features tinted glass, mirroring the area’s numerous Latino neighborhood murals.

The center’s interior includes a large visitor’s lobby with adjoining multipurpose space reserved for community group meetings.  Housing a police precinct and a fire station, the facility provides residents one-stop public safety service.  Police facilities include executive offices, locker rooms, evidence and property rooms and an indoor firing range.  Training and fitness rooms are programmed as common areas for both the police and fire departments. The fire station includes executive office space, locker rooms, a dormitory, kitchen and dining area.
