• [+] WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY SANGREN LANDSCAPE

    LOCATION: KALAMZOO, MI

    YEAR: 2012

The new Sangren Hall creates an impressive architectural presence along the Michigan Avenue corridor on WMU’s campus.  Hamilton Anderson Associates created a welcoming pubic space that unifies the area’s adjacent student facilities and the new building; effectively converting  the vehicular traveled Michigan Avenue to a pedestrian corridor.

HAA integrated pedestrian circulation routes, service areas and storm water management while transforming the existing parking lot into a student green space and unifying open spaces along the corridor between Bronco Plaza and the Bernhard Center.  This new student gathering space strengthens connectivity to the nearby arts campus and student residential areas. HAA worked with the team to provide cost estimates for the University to obtain state funding.
