Both the building and site extend the Wayne State brand and implement a sensitive architectural and streetscape design that facilitates connection between the mixed-use development and the academic core. Residential common spaces on the ground floor are designed to allow for flexibility and a variety of uses. Key amenities for residents include study rooms, social and game lounges on each floor; full kitchens; a dance studio; two large community rooms; on-site laundry facilities; and three courtyard areas.
The project will be LEED Certified, at a minimum, though the university targets LEED Silver certification.
Phase one of construction consisted of an 11-story building with beds for nearly 400 students, and it completed in Fall 2018. Phase two of construction consists of two additional towers standing six- and eight-stories tall to the north and south of the first 11-story structure. Phase two will be complete in June 2019 and open beds for approximately 400 additional students. Beginning in Fall 2019, the Anthony Wayne Drive Apartments will be the site for the University’s new Campus Health Center.
