Fort Wayne Master Plan

Historic Fort Wayne is an 83-acre site located on the Detroit River in Southwest Detroit that has the potential to become a highly compelling destination and serve as an important community amenity for the city. Built in 1843, the Star Fort and accompanying military buildings / residences are among the most captivating historic features in the region, yet years of neglect left many buildings in critical need of repair. MEDC hired HAA, as well as HR&A, an economic development firm, to develop a vision for Fort Wayne as an actively programmed cultural, recreational and educational destination that celebrates the site’s unique history, serves diverse users, and supports regional economic growth.
