The building features a combination of high-tech classrooms, instructional laboratories, faculty offices, fitness labs and student gathering spaces – all woven together in a sustainable environment.
The New Northwest Campus Project included four major components, including a new general education building, an addition to an existing education building, a new central power plant, and the creation of a cohesive campus through landscaped gathering spaces, intimate streets and shared parking.
The new general education building received LEED platinum certification, making it the second LEED 2009 New Construction project in the state of Michigan and one of 149 in the country.
Hamilton Anderson’s site design also included a bio-retention basin, storm water detention under the parking lot, drought tolerate native plantings, and a geothermal well and green roof.
